MITCHELL EMPLOYMENT LAW
Representing California Employees
Experienced, practical representation for employees facing discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, and other workplace violations.
FAIR TREATMENT
Discrimination, Harassment & Accommodation
California employees are protected from discrimination and harassment based on race, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, medical condition, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, and other protected characteristics. Mitchell Employment Law represents employees who have been subjected to unequal treatment or harassment, denied reasonable accommodations or protected medical leave, or punished because of a disability, medical condition, pregnancy, or other protected status.
SPEAKING UP
Retaliation & Whistleblower Claims
Employees have the right to raise concerns about unlawful conduct without putting their careers on the line. Mitchell Employment Law represents employees who face termination, discipline, demotion, reduced hours, exclusion, or other retaliation after reporting discrimination or harassment, complaining about wage violations or other unlawful practices, requesting protected leave or accommodation, reporting suspected illegal conduct, or refusing to participate in conduct they reasonably believe is unlawful.
LOSS OF EMPLOYMENT
Wrongful Termination
California is an at-will employment state, but at-will employment does not give an employer the right to terminate someone for an unlawful reason. Mitchell Employment Law represents employees who have been fired because of discrimination, retaliation, whistleblowing, protected leave or accommodation requests, or for refusing to engage in unlawful conduct, as well as employees whose termination otherwise violates California law or public policy.
PAY & HOURS
Wage & Hour Violations
Employees are entitled to be paid properly for the work they perform. Mitchell Employment Law handles claims involving unpaid wages and overtime, off-the-clock work, missed meal and rest periods, unpaid commissions, unreimbursed business expenses, improper wage statements, final-pay violations, and misclassification as exempt employees or independent contractors. These violations may affect an individual employee or reflect broader pay practices affecting multiple workers.
ABOUT THE FIRM
Patricia Lynne Mitchell

Mitchell Employment Law is a plaintiff-side employment practice dedicated to representing California employees. Patricia Mitchell brings substantial litigation experience to each matter and believes clients deserve practical advice, candid assessments, and an attorney who understands both the legal issues and the very real consequences workplace disputes can have on their lives and careers.

Patricia Lynne Mitchell is the founder of Mitchell Employment Law and an experienced plaintiff-side employment litigator who has represented California employees for more than two decades. Since beginning her legal career in 2001, Patricia has handled employment disputes involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower claims, disability and accommodation issues, wage and hour violations, misclassification, and other workplace rights.Patricia approaches employment litigation with the understanding that a workplace dispute is rarely just a legal problem. Losing a job, being retaliated against for speaking up, confronting discrimination or harassment, or trying to protect a career while dealing with a disability or medical condition can affect nearly every part of a client's life. She believes clients deserve more than generalized assurances. They deserve an attorney who will listen carefully, understand the facts, explain the strengths and risks of the case candidly, and develop a strategy based on the client's individual goals.Throughout her career, Patricia has handled matters through all phases of litigation, from initial case evaluation and investigation through discovery, depositions, mediation, arbitration, dispositive motions, settlement, trial preparation, and trial. She has successfully negotiated numerous six- and seven-figure resolutions on behalf of employees and has represented individuals ranging from hourly employees to professionals and executives. Before founding Mitchell Employment Law, Patricia served as Senior Counsel with Schein Law Group, where she litigated complex plaintiff-side employment matters. She previously served as Senior Counsel at Remedy Law Group, managing a diverse employment litigation caseload and representing employees in significant workplace disputes.Patricia also practiced with the Law Offices of Lauren Abrams, where she represented employees in employment litigation and developed and litigated cases through resolution. From 2009 through 2016, Patricia owned and operated the Law Offices of Patricia Mitchell, where she was responsible for every aspect of a plaintiff-side employment practice, including client intake, case development, litigation strategy, discovery, negotiation, settlement, and trial.Patricia's perspective is also informed by experience earlier in her career representing employers. At Kulik, Gottesman, Mouton & Siegel, she defended employment litigation and obtained favorable results through settlement and summary judgment. She also handled litigation at Albright, Yee & Schmidt and served as Senior Employment Counsel at the Law Offices of Shawn Khorrami. That experience gives Patricia an understanding of how employers, defense counsel, and insurance carriers evaluate employment claims - insight she now uses exclusively in representing employees.Patricia founded Mitchell Employment Law to offer clients experienced representation without layers of attorneys between the client and the lawyer actually handling the case. Clients work directly with Patricia. She believes in thorough preparation, practical judgment, candid communication, and litigating each matter with an eye toward both the client's legal claims and the result that will actually matter to the client.EDUCATIONPatricia earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 2001.
